The purpose of the building envelope survey is to determine the existing condition of the building cladding and roofing system, with regard to water tightness and overall assessment, through visual observations. The survey may also include the use of our infrared camera and capacitance, as well as limited destructive investigation.
BUILDING
ENVELOPE SURVEY
What we can help you achieve
A better experience through how we treat both our clients and projects.
Building Cladding:
- Wall to foundation tie-in
- Cladding (brick units, stucco, etc.)
- Control joints and expansion joints
- Fenestrations and their seals
- Tie-ins of various components and units
- Window systems and their seals
Roofing System:
- Decking, as viable from the building interior
- Roofing system
- Roof perimeter construction and flashing systems
- Rooftop drainage system and drainage characteristics
- Rooftop equipment and flashing systems
- Roofing penetrations
CORE SAMPLING
Core sampling is performed to determine those components comprising the roofing system, their thicknesses, possible methods of attachment, and their observable condition. Moisture content is described as either wet or dry. Determination of moisture content, percent moisture content by weight or volume, can be determined as part of laboratory testing.
